Ein Artikel über das vermutlich Ford-Foundation- und Soros-finanzierte „Cairo Institute For Human Rights Studies“ und seine Verbindung/Einbindung in die OTPOR-ähnlichen Strukturen von CANVAS/DEMOZ. die aus gleicher Quelle und so auch (indirekt) durch die CIA finanziert werden, wurde binnen 20 Minuten durch facebook gesperrt. (etwas, was auch Hape Kerkeling passiert ist, als er sagte, er würde lieber von Wulf regiert als von BLID-Chef Kai Diekmann .) Die Facebook-Accounts des Autors Dr. Christof Lehmann wie auch der seines nsnbc-international-Portals wurden gesperrt. Dr. Lehmann schreibt (wie auch sein nach dem Brief folgenden Artikel in Englisch):

About 20 minutes after posting the article (see below) on my Facebook page and that of nsnbc international my F-book account was disabled. That is, for the 4th time within 14 month. The last time it happened was in October.

This time, Facebook demanded that I’d send a copy of my passport.. ???!!!

The last time that I have heard anything remotely similar to this audacity was when I read CNN propaganda directed against China.

I warmly encourage all of you, depending on your position and ability to:

a) Share the information
b) share nsnbc articles on Facebook as long as we can’t
c) send us advise about good lawyers who would like to pursue anti-censorship cases against Facebook, Google, SiteLock, and other.
d) donate a modest amount if you are a subscriber / regular reader (donate button in the right column at www.nsnbc.me – phone bills, sever bills, safe communication with whistleblowers, all that comes at a cost and we want to keep nsnbc free to read so also those who earn a dollar per day in a sweatshop can get access to n independent newspaper.
e) or contact me directly for larger amounts which would be helpful and a precondition for being able to pursue censorship against nsnbc and others legally.

Most importantly – do whatever you can to oppose censorship.

Rights Org CIHRS leaving Egypt due to Associations Law: A clear-cut Case?

Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : The Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS) announced that it would move to Tunisia, citing Egypt’s new “draconian association law”. The organization failed to register before the Nov 10 deadline set for NGOs to comply with the new law that enforces transparency about fundraising. The CIHRS issued a statement, calling the associations law passed under the interim government of Mansour Adly as “draconian”. The NGOs statement alleged that the law was designed to silence “every independent critical voice from the public sphere, individuals and institutions, Islamist or secular”, reports The Cairo Post. The newspaper quotes CIHRS Egypt Program Manager Mahamed Zaree as stating that:

“Even after registration, an NGO could face problems from the ministry, as the government could object to the organization’s structure and cancel its administrative decisions… Article 17 of Law 84 stipulates that NGOs must have approval for raising funds, and because of this, the ministry could delay financing for groups for months”.

Deputy Minister Kamal al-Sherif, for his part, told The Cairo Post on Tuesday, that “we did not enforce anyone to register. This matter is up to the institution’s officials”. The associations law was criticized by a wide range of particularly Western NGOs and Arab NGOs  as well as by some Western governments.

Background for the Legislation and NGOs as Instruments of Subversion.

Searches for CHIRS’s sources of funding result only in reports which don’t specify the sources of funding. The organization is closely linked to the Arab Human Rights Fund (AHRF) which states about the AHRF’s history:

With financial and administrative support from the Ford Foundation, a committee was formed to explore the feasibility of establishing an endowed and sustainable funding agency devoted to supporting long-term efforts to advance human rights and the rule of law. (emphasis added)

nsnbc international contacted the CIHRS in July 2014 over the phone and asked for detailed reports about its finances but didn’t receive any documentation other than references to public websites which contain very sketchy information about the organization’s funding at best.

That implies, that CIHRS provided no information that would allow conclusions about whether it directly or indirectly receives funding from e.g. The Ford Foundation, the Carter Center, the Open Society Foundation of George Soros, and other foundations that are notorious for being implicated in the United States and allies, as well as venture capitalists’ interference in the domestic affairs of “targeted nations”; With activities ranging from policy manipulation over color revolutions to right-out coup d’ état.

Virtually identical CANVAS / DEMOZ flyers distributed in Egypt and Ukraine.

Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Binghampton University, New York, Dr. James Petras, delivered a paper entitled “The Ford Foundation and the CIA“ in 2002, concluding that albeit the foundation’s cooperation with the CIA and the U.S. State Department has become more subtle in recent years, the organization continues to function as an instrument for the implementation of U.S. hegemony.

It is also noteworthy that CANVAS, a.k.a. DEMOZ, which is known for being a bit in the regime change toolkit of the U.S. State Department has been implicated in violent protests in Egypt as well as in the 2014 overthrow of the elected government of Ukraine.

In November 2014 the United Arab Emirates designated the Belgrade based CANVAS as a terrorist organization.

How clear-cut the case of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies is will be impossible to determine unless it put its cards, that is detailed financial records on the table. Meanwhile, it has chosen to move its Egypt Program to Tunisia instead.
